Welcome to the Year 5/6 Class Page - Mrs Camps

Welcome to our class pages. This term we are covering a unit of work on 'Romeo and Juliet.'
We have watched extracts from several different versions on film and read extracts from the original play.
The children have enjoyed acting out scenes and writing their own scenes using the conventions of playscript writing.
In Maths we have worked hard on recalling important number facts, calculating and learning the properties of 2D shapes.
Our Science topic this term has been 'forces.' Our class have been busy investigating forces in action, using Newton-meters,
measuring upthrust and making spinners to observe air resistance.
We have our new 'Steps to Success' in place to encourage children to reach personal targets
in their learning. They are working towards these with enthusiasm. The childrens' achievements are being celebrated with Green Cards. Ask them how many they have?
In Art Ms Young has been looking at figures in motion with the children. They looked at the painting 'Wildly Dancing Children,' by Nolde. Why not look up the painting on the Internet?
The Y6 children have been swimming every Friday, whilst the y5's have been dancing with Mr Howes.
We have also been busy out and about, visiting St Aiden's church for our R.E work on ' Special Places.' The children have also been out to the cinema to watch
'Monster House' a free film put on for children as part of the Sheffield Film Festival.
