I must congratulate the school on the progress with my grand daughter Tsi. She has handwriting lessons because she tries to write quickly, due to her trying to copy me as I am a Speedwriter, which is a type of shorthand. It's surprising how quickly they can pick up the wrong habits. Her handwriting has improved tremendously so congrats to whoever is helping her and congrats to Tsi for trying.

I did my final teaching practice for my B.Ed course at Manor Lodge, in 1995, under the watchful eye of Mrs Irving and Mrs Graville. I worked in Mrs Val Ross's Y1/2 (I think) class, whole my friend worked in Mrs Diane Clarke's class next door. We still speak about our time at the school and wonder whether any of the teachers we worked with are still there. Looking forward to seeing some of the staff photos up on this site(?) , as I imagine that some staff names will have changed over the years.
We remember Ann Chambers, Mrs Sheppard, Miss Vickers (used to come in and play the piano!) Mrs Stokes...and others whose names have escaped me!

I came across your website whilst reminiscing. I started there at Christmas 1959 at the age of 5 and I can still remember how the classroom looked. It was at the bottom of the school and you went down steps to like a basement for the classroom. The teacher was a lovely old lady called Miss Smedley. I had a wonderful time until i left at the age of 11yrs. I am still in the education environment now, as school secretary for an independent school in preston.

As a former student at this middle school, I was delighted to see that you have a web site dedicated to the school. Many fond memories I have of this school.
Currently, I am the Head Teacher of the English Department of my Elementary School in Japan and I have been considering a 'Pen-Pal' initiative to encourage our Grade 6 (11-12 years) English students to communicate in English with children their own age so as to promote educational internationalisation.

Hi, I came across this website purely by accident but I'm loving the fact that you guys now have a website, well I started in Mr. Mandell's class many moons ago, almost 15 years actually - scary thought!!. I always remember mrs.Irvings crazy tights and cardigan combinations they were ace - also our teacher from New Zealand Mr.Laws he was a great teacher. Another memory is having to hide my juice at dinnertimes cos we were only allowed to have water-I always got away with it tho teehee!! Anyways great website and I'm sure still a great school - keep up the workxx

I left manor lodge a long time ago. I guess it was around 1990. I have no clue if anyone at the school will remember me (or my family, there were quite a few O'Connor's)

I was taught by Mr Bell (M1), Mr Stokes (M3), and Mr Burton in M2 and M4 (none of this y5, y6 business back then!)

I know the school has changed a lot since I left. Mr Butcher was the head teacher when I left....if anyone passes this guestbook entry and remembers me, please feel most free to email me.

There was a lot of things going on at red nose day and i thought it was really good and very exciting and there was a lot of competitions going on. The bagpipes were very loud but i enjoyed him playing them.

Thank you Mr Howes for taking us to the space center, I realy enjoyed going to the different exhibits and seeing all the wonderful things there. I realy liked going up to the tower and finding some really good info, I think everyone else enjoyed it as well as I did so thanks again. And thanks to all the other teachers who came. My mum liked our class assembly I thought it was really funny when I started laughing in the video and fahad was realy funny and so was some other people like deim. My brother came to watch the assembly and he liked it too. If my dad had come i think he would have liked it but he had to go to work to sort some stuff out. From Emily

I am astonished to see just how far Manor Lodge Primary has oved forward since I left the school in 1997. I just had a quick flick through the staff profiles and must say i'm quite shocked at the fact that not one of my original teachers seem to be on there? However if I might add, Manor Lodge is a terrific school and I have nothing but good memories of the place, and also allthough I don't seem to recognise any of the current staff, I'm sure that they're carrying on doing the super work that helped get me where i am today.
Also if anybody does recognise my name, I am now working down in Norwich and am about to start working as a mortgage advisor again after a slight break, and must admit i'm loving every bit of my life at the minute.

Hello All. This is the first time I've seen the webpage and I'm afraid to say that I don't recognise not one of you - that's probably because I first attended Manor Lodge in 1982!!! I think at the time the Headteacher was Mr Lovett and it changed to Mrs Irving. I now live in Nottingham, but my parents still live in Sheffield so I drive past the school whenever I come down. hiya to everyone that reads this i went to manor lodge (the class of 2001) n i loved it . i started with Mrs Wright and Mrs Shepard god that was a really long time ago way back in 1995! All the teachers I had throughout the school were great and i still miss them all now me and Alia Khan always reminise about our times at little school like in Science with Mrs Watson EVERY AFTERNOON! but she did make it fun! she was a great teacher shame we never got to say bye to her and Miss merriman/Mrs Ludlow then back to Miss Merriman! the things that can happen in a couple of years! Hope she remembers me she should do i went to her wedding! Most of the teachers have left now who taught me but if they ever come on and read this i just want to thank them all because they were all great if you ever needed help there were there for you! Leaving "big school" in a few weeks and im really scared going to have to come back to Manor Lodge and see the new buildings (it did need a facelift) Hope you let Me and Alia back into the school anyone who was in my year get in touch with me because i still miss all my friends!!! Big long essay wonder what i would get in SAT's for this? ....anyway i love Manor Lodge n it will always be the best school ever! hi all, some mums had a meeting last week to talk about our great school and how we can help get invovlved thinking of setting up a parents/carers group , Parents Teacher Group - not yet quite finalised the name . Any ideas would be a great help , or why not come along to our next get togther, tea & bisciuts, on 24 feb in community room at ML at 2.30pm -3.15pm babies and toddlers welcome also, we are a friendly lot .You can also see any of us in the playground afternoons at pick up time. My daughter Samantha is in Miss Merrimans Y5/6 and Melanie now at City school Y8. Good luck all y5/6s with the forthcoming perfomance of your Wizard of Oz! Can't wait.

Hello Miss Watson, glad to hear things are on the up! Was thinking about you when we were forecast snow, could just imagine you ploughing through it on your bike! As much as I love the idea of the freedom and fresh air of riding a bike, I'm very nesh and the car heater wins hands down!! We're very busy at the moment as I'm sure you are too. We are having a separate KS1 & KS2 nativity play this year. It's not going to be competitive though!!! Can't believe it's nearly Christmas! To Miss Watson and all last years Y6's. The flowers that you planted in the field last year have looked fantastic! We have had loads of sunflowers, poppies and some wonderful bright blue ones that I don't know the name of, but I'm sure Ms Watson will remember! Keep reminding myself to take a photo of them to post on the website before they all wilt so you can all see how great they look. i have been involved with manor lodge school for many years, all of my children have attended @ one time or another,i have seen the school change so much over the years the new school is brillant and i was honured to be part of the official opening, my daughter leaves this year and i feel a twinge of sadness, but i will continue to support manor lodge wherever possible, i would like to say a big thank you to all the staff that make the school such a wonderful place to learn,i also would like to wish mrs watson all the luck in the world in her new job.
